School of Electrical and Information Engineering
Established in 1958, the School of Electrical and Information Engineering has grown into a comprehensive and influential academic unit with a long-standing tradition of excellence in education and research. Over more than six decades of development, the School has remained committed to high-quality education, innovation-driven growth, and service to national and regional development needs.
The School offers a broad and well-structured portfolio of eight undergraduate programs: Electrical Engineering and Automation, Automation, Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments, Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated Systems, Intelligent Perception Engineering, and Industrial Intelligence. Among these programs, Electrical Engineering and Automation has been designated as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program, while Automation and Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments are recognized as National Characteristic Programs. In addition, Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments has successfully passed national engineering education accreditation, ensuring that its graduates meet internationally recognized engineering education standards.
At the postgraduate level, the School offers a secondary doctoral program in Intelligent Manufacturing and Process Management for Metallurgy, two first-level academic master’s degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Control Science and Engineering, and two professional master’s degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Electronic Information. The School serves as the chair institution of the Anhui Provincial Cooperative Committee for Electronic Information, Automation, and Communication disciplines. Its Electronic Information discipline has been selected for the Anhui Provincial Peak Discipline Cultivation Program, reflecting strong academic foundations, disciplinary competitiveness, and long-term development potential.
The School maintains a robust research environment supported by high-level research platforms and close collaboration with industry. It hosts the Anhui Provincial Key Laboratory of Power Electronics and Motion Control and has jointly established several provincial research centers with local government partners, focusing on intelligent industrial systems and metallurgical process engineering. Closely aligned with regional strategic emerging industries, the School has developed distinctive research strengths in power electronics, intelligent sensing and testing, complex systems and intelligent control, metallurgical process automation, and intelligent information processing. These strengths provide students with valuable opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research and real-world engineering projects.
The School is supported by a vibrant and internationally competitive faculty team, including 26 professors. Faculty members include nationally and provincially recognized high-level talents, distinguished researchers, award-winning teachers, and academic leaders. This strong faculty structure ensures high-quality teaching, effective mentorship, and rich academic guidance for students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Teaching excellence and student development are central priorities of the School. It has established provincial-level experimental teaching and training centers in electrical and electronic engineering and electrical automation, along with multiple high-performing teaching teams covering foundational courses, professional core curricula, and digital information processing. The School has been awarded seven First Prizes of the Anhui Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, demonstrating outstanding performance in educational reform and talent cultivation.
Students of the School consistently excel in innovation and competition. Each year, they win nearly 50 national-level awards in prestigious contests such as the Challenge Cup, the Siemens Cup China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge, the Intelligent Vehicle Competition, and the National Electronic Design Contest, highlighting strong creativity, practical ability, and teamwork skills.
In recent years, the School has undertaken more than 200 major research and industry–university collaboration projects, including national, provincial, and enterprise-funded initiatives. Faculty members have published over 700 high-quality academic papers, and the Engineering discipline has been ranked among the top 1% worldwide by ESI. The School has also secured more than 200 national invention patents, with many technologies successfully transferred to industry. Through long-term partnerships with leading domestic and international enterprises, the School has established joint laboratories and engineering research centers, creating a dynamic ecosystem that integrates education, research, and innovation.
Looking ahead, the School of Electrical and Information Engineering remains committed to providing students with a solid theoretical foundation, strong practical skills, and broad international perspectives. With rich academic resources, close industry ties, and a supportive learning environment, the School offers an ideal platform for students aspiring to become future leaders and innovators in electrical engineering, electronic information, and related fields.
